Olympic canoeist returns to water
“Most of this time would be spent training on the River Trent,” said Adrian. “And I was normally up at 5am in the morning because a typical day would always involve at least 10 miles canoeing.
“It was really hard work and apart from a year out to concentrate on the Games, I always had to juggle training with a full-time Graphic Design degree at Trent Polytechnic. However, being picked for the Games was a wonderful achievement and the opportunity to travel to South Korea and be in a team that included people like Daley Thompson, Fatima Whitbread and Steve Redgrave was a real honour.”
At 42 Adrian is one of the two operational directors in charge of Print Revolution. “Running and growing a company can be quite stressful,” he added. “But having gone through so much getting to Seoul I feel well prepared for whatever business life can throw at me.
“So it’s nice to go back on the water now and spend time canoeing when few other people are about. It helps me to relax but I’m the first to admit that I’m not managing the kind of hours and miles I was doing 20 years ago.”
Print Revolution wins Award
Presstek, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of digital printing solutions has recognised Print Revolution as an environmentally conscious supplier.
Paul Bamford, director of print handling and finishing at Print Revolution said that, “We strive to ensure all our processes have minimum environmental impact but it’s always nice to be recognised for what you do.
“Whilst customers are always keen to get value for money, we are finding that people are increasingly interested in the environmental side of our work. As a result, we are becoming busier all the time and there is less impact on the environment.”
New technology benefits customers
In December 2008 and in response to growing customer demand, Print Revolution acquired the very latest digital printing technology and became only one of five UK companies using such a press.
Paul Bamford, director of print handling and finishing at Print Revolution said: “We spent 9 months looking for suppliers and we even did our own customer research to find out what people were looking for from us. It would have been easy to keep costs low and choose a conventional press but even though the machine we bought cost us £350,000 it offered so many advantages.
“Not only is the press environmentally-friendly but it also produces extremely high quality work. The press prints 300 line-screen which means the results are extremely impressive – colours are vivid and really sharp.”
The new press also produces full colour work at 10,000 sheets per hour. “This has really helped to resolve our capacity issue,” said Paul, “But I think we will be looking for more equipment soon!”
